Why do Teachers not want to be graded?

The news from many states in USA has begun to arrive now that many states are gearing to grade the teachers based on their performance and of course provide some guidelines to the teachers who score poorly. If you ask the teachers with this grading system, well, the answer is “No”. Why teachers do not wish to be graded? The answer comes from the fact that teachers consider them the final authorities of the grading and they must be put above the others so that everyone knows what they are expecting. The teachers also have begun to fear that now market realities will shape their career choices as well. The grading system must be such which must provide the ways to improve and build the best practices of running the schools and classes. The result and performance based teachers would always be at the front of the news while the teachers who do not work hard, they will get pushed to improve and comeback cycle. Though it does seem that these policies are for the teachers, the important question still remains how the kids will reach schools. The kids in the street deserve the education as the rich people do. Even after so much of efforts, the teachers feel that they must be kept aside. The grading and auditing would be the part of the education system in many places and would think of avoiding it. The new rules of grading put certain emphasis on teachers.

President Obama wishes to continue the policy of “No Child Left Behind” program of Bush Administration. All such programs need lots of money to survive. As many as 26 states in USA are seeking the waiver from the laws which are asking them to comply with the plans. One fails to understand what is the harm in being included in the all covered laws which are good for the nation. The schools do not wish to be under single umbrella which will audit their progress. The election year in USA has begun to show its effects on policies of the administration. The opposition parties sometimes do not support even the laws they think would help the nation. It happens because they wish to oppose the policies of the ruling government. Right of being wrong does not matter much. Most of the political parties lack the will to change the education system. The education has become a big market rather than changing the society for better. The market with politics is changing it for worse for the community and the people of the nation. The de-regulated education system is not good for anyone and it is certainly a problem for the generations to solve because someone has to act on the needs and of course provide the guiding force to political leaders. It is not surprise but shocking how soon political parties lose their memories of offering their promises of free education.

It may sound little strange to the people who are living in western world or in the countries which are considered rich. The poor countries still have that long gap between the rich and poor. The rich can afford to send their sons and daughters to the schools which are up-market. The poor people work in the fields and earn very low wages which are not enough even for the family. The education for the children is an extra expense for them. So, what happens in these lands, the election comes and political leaders begin to take rounds? An average politician always has some promises in his bag. The free education is one such promise which is repeated all the years and the poor people are misled to believe that someone is going to worry about the future of their kids. February is the month of elections in many places. The public is again at the receiving ends for the empty promises which are never fulfilled. This time as well, the political leaders come with the promises and once they are elected, they are gone forever. Education for all will be forgotten again because it requires money to fund it and no government is too serious about making it to happen. There are many children who are unable to go to schools and they work at small shops all over the world. Political leaders eat well and sleep well. Where on earth they have time to think about the promises they offered to public.

Some problems never go away just by wishing them to vanish. The education system around the world is reeling under the clutches of greed and personal gains. In UK and elsewhere, the examination boards have become the way to earn the money for the people who publish the keys to exams and the same teachers offer the private tuitions. The schools, colleges and educators all have changed over the years. All of them are busy in making and thinking just about money. Some of them succeed while the frustrated teachers leave the schools for ever. Recent publication of the claims in UK has exposed the nexus among the entities that have nothing to do with the education. The teachers are compromising the questions and telling them to certain publications who publish the books and pocket guides to examinations. The education is getting expensive every year. Yes, this time again the Obama’s plans for investments in Education are in news again. Actually, there are many roadblocks in what Obama is trying to do. He wishes to put more money in the plans for education for the children. In many countries, it is still a dream to send the every kid to school. The report card of developing Asian countries on this front is not very encouraging. The respite for America is that it can afford to pay and sponsor the education for the kids. Obama’s plans are in right direction but those plans need money to invest. That is the point where the problem exists as of now. It is certainly the circle which never ends. The primary education must be responsibility of the state and higher education must be made affordable to all.
